Goal Setting

I already have my women’s empowerment program that I created about 9-10 years ago.  What I need to do now is to get specific about how and when to set it up to be able to present online.  I need to do the following:

  1. Finalize the topics and order of the modules that I will be giving.  Do this by the end of June 2020.
  2. Get a Zoom account so that I can present online.  I will do this by the end of June 2020.
  3. Set up an account with my credit union for how I could receive payments from attendees.  Call them this Friday, June 26, 2020.
  4. Concretize how I will advertise to get the word out to the people I know who might be interested.  Finish by July 16, 2020.
  5. Start spreading the word about this program on Facebook and through emails to people I know.  I already posted one announcement on a group I had created a long time ago but had not added anything new in many years.
  6. Decide if I will need/want a website or just have it spread through word of mouth.  Talk to my niece to ask her about her new website, who created it, cost, timeframe, etc.
  7. Set down dates for when I will offer my modules and put in my yearly calendar.  Do this by end of July 2020.
  8. Reach out to people and read more about some newly added topics that I might not be so familiar with to learn more before I present them to others.

I need to keep praying and spending quiet time before my God to listen deeply to where I am being guided to keep moving.  I also need to keep talking to supportive people who believe in me so that I don’t start second guessing myself.  I am more and more convinced that as women, we need to support, encourage, listen to, lift up, cheer on, and empower each other so that we can come to truly believe and live out as the people God dreams us to be.

  1. Post your “pitch” or invitation here! Let us give you feedback and help sharpen the work — work that sounds like healing balm & invigorating fire for women in need of both!

    1. Thank you, Casey, for allowing me to present here what my program is and how I hope to be able to launch it to others.

It is a human and spiritual formation program, specifically for Latina women, where they can learn a lot of basic life skills. The program will include retreats at the beginning and end of the year with five modules during the year.

The topics are, Who am I?,
      The Mind and Self-esteem,
Emotions and how to deal with them,
      The Shadow,
and the Physical Body and caring for it.

The second year again begins and ends with a retreat, and the modules are
      Spirituality and Prayer,
      Relationships and Communication,
      Making Moral Decisions,
      Servant Leadership, and
Feminine Power (not what you might think).

I feel that with the pandemic, we have been pushed into reaching out to others in new ways, mainly via Zoom and such, and I think this is a great opportunity to be able to reach out to many who might be held back by distance. Zoom takes care of that. So my idea is to use Zoom and offer this program in that means. I hope to inform the people that I know that may be interested in attending themselves and/or may know of people who may be interested. I really believe that for many, this can be a way for them to learn many skills that we didn’t learn or weren’t taught as we were growing up. It’s a simple program, not very theological, but more practical in its approach. All the skills, techniques and exercises, I myself have learned and done, as well as presented to others and I know they work and can really help. It’s not meant to be a be-all for everyone, but a way to help women begin to heal, to grow, to learn and experience that they are loved, are worthy, are valuable, and have choices in what they might want to do with and in their lives. It’s something I would hope help women find a little more freedom to be who they are being dreamed of by our God.

  2. Thank you for your post with the great clarity and dates that will help all of us as we refine our own goals. My feedback for today involves attempting to offer support so that it feels natural and life giving to maintain the momentum you’ve started after these initial dates pass and you’ve completed these tasks.

As you shared in our small group, the act of sharing your “pitch/invitation” resulted in a different feeling than the initial post describing your goals. As you sit with these internal shifts, do you have a sense of what God (or the saint you invoked as we began this journey) is trying to communicate to you?

The dates you currently listed conclude in July. You mentioned adding the modules into your yearly calendar, so that goes beyond July, but have you determined or scheduled the ongoing personal “pitch/invitation” time that you may need to invest after July?

If it turns out that you experience the kind of feelings that Jesus experienced in his hometown (Luke 4, Mark 6), what might Jesus offer to you from either of these experiences that may support your own efforts?

Thank you for all your work Jenny and for all that your programs will do for Latina women!

    1. Thank you, Daniel, for your wise suggestions. I will definitely take some time to reflect on what the internal movements are trying to say to me and what I need to take note of. I appreciate your gentle encouragement here and in the small group. Blessings,

  3. Jenny, both your initial post with “next steps” and your “pitch” in your comment are energizing to read. As I read the modules you will offer and reflect on your earlier posts, there is such a sense of “just rightness” about this offering for Latina women – calling both you and the women you accompany into more abundant life.

In your initial post you wrote about supportive people who will be there when you second-guess yourself – perhaps another next step would be to list who these people are and let them know what kind of support, encouragement, and accountability you are looking for in the coming weeks and months?

    Blessings to you, Jenny!

    1. Thank you, Rhonda, for the suggestion of making note of who might be able to support me as I move forward. I think it’s providential that you mentioned that this could call both me and the women I would accompany into more abundant life. The name of my program is that – Life in Abundance. Vida en Abundancia. Do I hear Someone reaffirming my choice, maybe?! Blessings.
